GENEVIEVE WILLIAMS Arrived in Seattle summer 1996, fresh out of the Sophia Smith Finishing School for Young Ladies (i.e., Smith College), where I majored in music and regularly terrorized the department by studying things like West African music and the history of jazz. They'd never had a drummer before. Played in a few bands and also the student orchestra, as a timpanist. In Seattle, joined Murder of Crows almost immediately, started at Amazon.com soon thereafter. Band's still going, job is not--I was a music editor when they laid me off. Now in charge of the band's business and doing some freelancing. Keep meaning to take lessons again, brush up on my chops and try another project or two on the side--someday I'll have time, I tell myself. Meanwhile, MoC's album will be released late spring 2000.
